I checked yesterday in Twitter and Michael Shermer was still continuing to post his biased views, which are entirely divorced from the historical facts.
I'm also a Skeptic magazine subscriber and have some Michael Shermer books in my library. His sound arguments in those articles and books won't be suddenly unsound. But I think I'm going to stop reading more from him for a while.
I agree with you, TRER. I have lost a little bit of respect for both Shermer and Harris even though they are otherwise sound intellectuals .. If we were to judge this incident in a vacuum, of course Hamas has committed atrocities. But then put this incident in its proper context and then you understand. If a wife kills her husband then it’s a heinous crime but if the context was that he had been torturing her and abusing her children and the police won’t arrest him then it’s self defence. Context is everything! The entire western media is complicit in this blinkered thinking. They keep parroting how Hamas has in its charter the destruction of Israel. And no one seems to mind that the very creation of Israel was based on the principle: A land without people for a people without land!! It boggles the mind.. watch Bassam Youssef on Piers Morgan on YouTube. He’s hilariously accurate (not Piers Morgan, of course!). Disclaimer: he does use foul language in both English and Arabic so haven’t shared the link just in case it gets flagged on this forum.
